AUTISM ASSESSMENT PRACTITIONER

POSITION: Full time & part time (minimum of 3 days), Permanent
HOURS: Flexible - weekday and weekend hours available.
LOCATION: Home based
SALARY: £41,500 - £48,500

THE CHALLENGE
The Autism Assessment Practitioner position requires an individual who is skilled at autism diagnostic assessment and interventions and who is committed to delivering the best outcomes for neurodiverse children, young people, adults and their families. The successful candidate will be a member of a MDT, and will deliver part of the autism assessment alongside support, advice and interventions. The key aspects of the role are:
Clinical
- To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and recording, report writing and the responsible exercise of professional self-governance in accordance with relevant professional codes of practice and Healios policies and procedures.
- To actively contribute to multi disciplinary team meetings, working with others to reach a diagnostic conclusion
- To undertake high quality autism assessments and provide interventions
- Manage / investigate concerns / incidents / quality issues and provide reports
- Effectively communicate with neurodiverse children, young people and adults, families, internal and external staff
- Act as a professional role model at all times
- Work within the framework of your regulatory body, and ensure professional registration is maintained
- Meet service objectives and key performance indicators
Policy/Service Development
- Act in accordance with Healios policies
- To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national policies and issues in relation to neurodevelopmental differences and mental health
- Share innovation and ideas with the team lead and service manager
Research & Development
- Be aware of new developments within the area of specialism
- Attend training where needs are identified
- Contribute to audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service
Management, Supervisions and Leadership
- To act as a ‘buddy’ and support new Healios staff
- Support the development of junior staff
- Deputise for Team Lead under the direction of the Service Manager if appropriate
Education, Learning and Personal Development
- Maintain active continuing professional development throughout your practice
- Take an active part in consistency assurance activities
- Share any training needs / gaps with your line manager
Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults
- To adhere to the principles of effective and safe safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults
- Undertake risk assessments and respond appropriately to risk concerns
- Act as risk and safeguarding lead for the team
- Complete Safeguarding Children training Level 3
General Duties of all post holders
- To undertake any other reasonable duty, which is appropriate to the role, when requested to do so by Senior Staff
- To be familiar with and comply with all service and departmental policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines
- To be aware of and work towards the services strategic goals

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO HEALIOS
Clinical
Essential
- First level nursing qualification/registration RN; or First level qualification in OT, social work, psychology, speech and language therapy
- Registered with a statutory body (NMC, HCPC, ACP, BABCP, UKCP or BACP)
- ADOS or ADI-r trained and experienced
- At least 1 years experience in autism diagnostic assessments
- Experience of delivering support / interventions to neurodiverse children and / or adults
- Ability to undertake risk assessments and develop risk plans
- Experienced in safeguarding assessment and procedures
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent report writing skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team
- Commitment to improving the experience of neurodiverse individuals
Desirable
- ADOS and ADI-r trained
- Experience of delivering mental health assessments and interventions
- Safeguarding level 3 trained Experience of working in a NHS service
Research & Development
Essential
- Experience of contribution to evaluation, audit or research
